Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave treatment is a non-invasive approach to treating musculoskeletal pain and tissue damage using acoustic sound waves. It addresses difficult-to-heal injuries to the tendon or muscle that often resist traditional treatments.

Latitude Health offers customized shockwave therapy in Brampton, Milton and Mississauga to reduce pain and promote smooth healing. Our registered physiotherapists may prescribe it to you after assessing your injuries thoroughly.

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy is also known as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy or ESWT. It is a non-invasive treatment for certain injuries that are difficult to heal otherwise. Shockwave is especially effective for conditions like tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, and golfer’s elbow that are caused by overuse, degeneration and injury in the tendons.

Shockwave therapy uses acoustic waves to boost the natural healing abilities of damaged tissues. High-energy sound waves are targeted at specific areas of the body to promote tissue repair, promote blood flow, reduce pain and restore optimal mobility.

How Does It Work?
LATITUDE HEALTH

We identify the exact area to be treated after injury assessment and diagnosis. A gel is applied to help the shockwaves transmit effectively.

We use an advanced shockwave therapy device to generate sound waves and promote tissue healing. One of our trained physiotherapists holds the device close to the affected area and allows it to generate low-energy/high-energy sound waves.

Once generated, these waves travel through the skin and tissues, stimulating the affected area.

The shockwaves create mechanical stress on the tissue, triggering the body’s natural healing response.

The therapy promotes the production of collagen, improves blood circulation and helps regeneration of cells.

With consistent sessions, it can accelerate tissue repair, helping the body heal faster and more effectively.
